This June 8 marks seven years since one of the most glorious pages in the history of Central Córdoba: the promotion to the top category of Argentine football, achieved after defeating Sarmiento in the playoffs. The 2018/19 season had everything for the Ferroviario. The team reached last place in the average table, with relegation as a threat, but found its best version in the final stretch and managed to qualify for the Reducido for the second promotion. In the playoffs, Central Córdoba eliminated Platense first, after tying 0-0 in Santiago and winning 1-0 in Vicente López with a goal from Pablo Ortega. Then, in the semifinals, they left Almagro in the way with two 2-1 wins: in the Alfredo Terrera, Facundo Melivilo and Javier Rossi scored, while in José Ingenieros, Cristian Luján and again Rossi scored. The final was against Sarmiento, one of the main protagonists of that tournament. In the first leg, played on Saturday, June 1, at the Alfredo Terrera, they tied 1-1: Javier Rossi opened the scoring for the Ferroviario and Nicolás Miracco equalized for the Green. The definition arrived on Saturday, June 8, in Junín. Central Córdoba suffered, resisted and kept the net zero thanks to the defensive solidity and the interventions of César Taborda. After the 0-0, everything was resolved from the twelve steps. In the penalty shootout, the Ferro was perfect: they converted Diego Jara, Javier Rossi, Facundo Melivilo, Hugo Vera Oviedo and Alfredo Ramírez. For Sarmiento, Ariel Kippes, Nicolás Castro and Leonardo Villalba scored, while Taborda blocked Franco Leys' shot to unleash the ferroviarian madness. The promotion transformed Santiago del Estero into a party. The next day, the team entered the province through Selva and was received in each town by a crowd. The caravan ended in the Capital City, with a parade through the streets and the final celebration at the Alfredo Terrera stadium. Seven years later, that June 8 remains an unforgettable date for the ferroviarian people, who celebrated the most expected jump: the return of Central Córdoba to Primera División.
